Romanian Society for Television, or simple, Romanian Television (TVR) is the public television of Romania, founded on 31 December 1956 and broadcasts programming on 9 central channels: TVR 1, 2, 3, Info, Cultural, Sport, Folclor (tl. "Folk"), International, Moldova. It also maintains 5 regional channels: TVR Cluj, Craiova, Iasi, Târgu Mureș, Timișoara.
My ick with TVR
As said before, TVR is utterly dysfunctional, copying the model of the BBC and France Televisions, disregarding the fact that they are in Romania, without that much budget.
TVR also employs a "not-interested" approach towards gaining marketshare, instead relying on the old excuse of "Public broadcasters shouldn't follow marketshare, instead produce culturally valuable content". The problem? TVR doesn't produce culturally valuable content. They barely do anything in-house. International news are taken from the BBC instead of making any in-house reporting and national coverage? Yeah, almost non-existent.
